Mid-America Museum and Arkansas Alligator Farm

Near the end of November we took a short trip to Arkansas for the wedding of a very special friend of ours.  We try not to vacation alone, so we dragged along Mawmaw and Mawmaw Shirley (Pawpaw was busy hunting), and Grandma Tonie met us there.  We arrived on Thursday and the rehearsal wasn't until Friday night, so we had some free time to explore the area.  Since it was a little chilly outside we opted for indoor activities, and our first stop was the Mid-America Science Museum...
I was not around for this outing, because I was nearing the end of my half marathon training and needed to complete an 11 mile training run...on a treadmill at the Hot Springs YMCA.  The people were super sweet, but let's face it, 11 miles on a treadmill is not so fun.  Thankfully the rest of our group WAS having a great time...(Note: Stella styled her own hair before visiting the museum.)

Since I wasn't there, I'm not really sure what some of these exhibits were all about.  Also, I am terrible at science, so even if I had been there I might not have gotten them anyway...

I think this is just a table in the snack bar that the kids played under for a while...

Whoa!  Which one is the REAL Cille?
I think this thing captured your shadow...

And the main attraction was their giant Tesla Coil. It's the most powerful conical coil in the world, according to the Guinness book...
When my run finally came to an end and the kids had had enough museum fun, they picked me up and we headed to a nearby attraction that is close to our hearts, the Arkansas Alligator Farm.  My great-uncle Jack is the owner and generations of our family have enjoyed playing around at the farm. Uncle Jack gave us way too much bread for the animals, considering that it was absolutely freezing outside, but generosity is kinda his thing...
My mom has great memories of this place as a child, so I know it was special for her to be able to share it with her grandkids...

After feeding the animals it was time to go inside and meet someone smaller, and more toothy...(Disney princess movie reference; can you guess which one?)

We had a great time playing tourist in Hot Springs!
