Operation Christmas Child

Every year since before Stella was born we have put together a box for Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse.  I think it is a neat way to get your children involved in missions that gives them a chance to reflect on how richly blessed they are and how they can show others the love of Christ.  This year Stella's school is collecting the boxes so we will use Parkview as our drop off point.  We spent an afternoon shopping so that the kids could select items to pack in their shoe boxes. We chose to send plastic "shoeboxes" that can be repurposed by their recipients.  Cille loves to paint so she packed a set of watercolors for her Christmas child to enjoy...
We also stole a great idea that we saw on the internet and traced the kids' hands on their shoebox lids adding the message, "Put your hand on mine so we can pray together!"
Stella carefully chose items for her box...
We even packed some Play-doh that we had left over from Halloween...
Stella and Cille also colored pictures to put in the boxes and sent school pictures of themselves as well...
Since Watts was napping, Stella helped pack his box.  Both girls prayed for the children who will receive their boxes...
We plan to track the boxes online so we can see where they go and add a geography lesson to the mix!
