Stellapalooza 2016, Part 3

Time for some cake!

Did I mention our cousins were there?

Stella really loves it when we sing "Happy Birthday" to her...

She gets by with a little help from her friends...er, sisters...
Family photo...thanks, Missy!
Ice cream and cake with friends...
Cille entertaining Pop and Nana...
Zachariah!

Bouncer fun: a staple for every Pourciau party...

We survived another house party!  Thanks to everyone who helped us make Stella's secret spy birthday one that did not self-destruct!

Stellapalooza 2016, Part 2

At the third stop the teams had to assemble a 24 piece puzzle...
If you are wondering why there are no photos of Stella and Aaron, it is because they were so far ahead of me and the rest of the detectives.  Grandma Tonie manned the puzzle station...

The teams who worked together finished much faster than the others.  Teamwork makes the dream work!

Station number four required the teams to solve two brain teasers...
It was fun to watch them "get it"...

So confused...
Now we understand!
The 5th station was our neighbor's house across the street where the kids had to sink a basket before they could get their next clue.  Now that I am typing this I realize our neighbors were out of town when this happened and I am not sure I ever told them about it.  Oops!  The final clue brought the kids to an obstacle course in our backyard.  The kids had to hop in a sack...
Hula hoop...
Jump rope...
And toss three Easter eggs into a basket to finish...
Stella loved her scavenger hunt and thanks to lots of help from Missy, Jamie, Madeline, Marisa, Grandma Tonie, and Damon, it was a big success!

Stellapalooza 2016, Part 1

Can you believe it is already March 26th?  I can't!  I have felt that way the past 8 times it has been March 26th, because that is Stella's birthday.  This year it fell on a Saturday, so she was able to have her party on her actual birthday.  She chose her own theme and she wanted a secret spy birthday party.  I am not at all sure how she came up with that, but it actually turned out to be a pretty simple theme to pull off.  Her annual birthday banner...
Oriental Trading was selling cardboard spy cutouts half price.  They were leftover from an old VBS theme, and perfect for our party.  I usually don't go all out on things like this, but for half price I could not resist...
Her invitation looked like a confidential message.  We even stamped it on the outside of the brown manilla envelopes that we mailed them in...
The dollar store had cool detective kits that let you collect fingerprints or crack a secret code, so we threw in some notebooks, pencils, and little magnifying glasses from Oriental Trading and party favors were done...
These cool sticky footprints came from Oriental Trading also...
Our main attraction at the party was a neighborhood-wide scavenger hunt.  The kids received a new clue at every stop after finishing a challenge.  Their first challenge was to decode a message using the backwards alphabet code...
The kids competed in teams of 2.  The birthday girl cheated a little by choosing Aaron as her teammate.  He is 12, fast, and obviously smarter than your average 8 year old, so it gave them a distinct advantage...
The message said "Stella is eight years old today."
I love this sweet picture of Madeline helping Cille crack the code.  Madeline was one of the grown ups stationed around the neighborhood manning the challenges and passing out clues...

The second challenge was to drink an entire strawberry Icee as a team...
Jamie manned the Icees and did a little photography on the side at this station...

Brain freeze!
This is how second graders look when you take a picture of them...
...and this is how they look when you offer them a chance for a selfie...
They. Crack. Me. Up!

Such cuties...
Missy and I were huffing and puffing our way around the neighborhood trying to keep the kids in sight.  We are the ones who deserved Icees!
Molly finishing like a champion...
Another friend handling business for her team...
More scavenger hunt fun to come!  This was only the second stop!
