Fall Break in San Francisco, Part 1

Continuing our quest to visit new and exciting locations for family vacations, we decided to try out the west coast for the first time with the kids.  If you are going to take a long flight with 4 kids age 9 and under, you are going to need A LOT of electronics!
On the train between terminals the kids were bursting with energy...
The second leg of our journey...if you are wondering why we allowed the three girls to sit together, it has to do with Clorox wipes and peanut allergies...
Our shampoo came open mid-flight...this is why you always double-bag, people!
The Golden Gate Bridge!
It was JUST LIKE FULL HOUSE...except we were in a rented SUV, and the windows were up, and the kids were all properly restrained in carseats, and...okay, it was NOTHING like Full House...
Our first adventure was a hike in Muir Woods...
Think we're having tons of fun?  This is just the parking lot!
I tried to persuade a kid to go inside the log, but they saw a spider in there and refused...
Just the 5 of them and their behemoth stroller...
Epic selfie with some redwoods...

Check out the rings on that tree!
I was geeking out about this plaque because I read a biography of Sequoyah when I was a kid...

In preparation for our visit I printed some resources from the National Monument website.  The kids had a blast completing the scavenger hunt and also enjoyed a few of the activities in the junior ranger guide, like this one...
We found an inch worm...

The woods were just too much for some members of our party, so I stayed with sleeping beauty while the big kids took a more adventurous trail with Daddy...
Can you spot them?
California is just breath-taking...
We even squeezed in a visit to the iconic Painted Ladies that evening.  The kids loved the park there...
More San Francisco treats to come!

PBS Homecoming Parade

Homecoming is a really big deal at the kids' school, and the excitement reaches a fever pitch at the annual Homecoming Parade...
The kids love seeing their friends on the floats and catch throws like the seasoned Louisiana natives that they are...

Nice catch, Stella!
Straight from the parade to my son's mouth for this plastic flute.  Yuck!

Goat Wrangling at the Audubon Zoo

When we go to the zoo, we mostly go for Monkey Hill, so we always pack our swimsuits...
Sometimes we even rock them over to the petting zoo and groom some goats in our swimwear, because, why not?

This bathing beauty was very enthusiastic about her furry friend...

Look what I caught in my kid trap!

Fire House Field Trip

One of the best parts of TK is the plentiful field trip schedule!  Watts was so excited that his first field trip of the year was to the fire station...
He loved manning the hose...
Pure happiness!

How cute are these kiddos?  There is only one girl in the entire class!  Poor thing!

This little dude's all about fire safety!
