December in Orange Beach

What should you do when Christmas is over, it's 70 degrees outside, and there's no school for at least a week?  Hit the beach, of course.  Corinne was very confused when her shovel lost its head...
Yes, folks, this is how we December in Alabama...
Stella tried out some beach-nastics...
Coco got in on the act...
Stella always wants to do these crazy yoga/gymnastics poses like Ashley Wilking.  I usually tell her we don't have the right background, but I could not make that excuse this time...

Cille found a clam...
Stella wanted to catch some waves, but sprinted back for the beach when she felt how cold the water was...
The indoor pool was just right...
We had a blast at the local playground...

Thank goodness for winter condo maintenance and a warm spell in December!

Christmas Night

Christmas night we headed out to Erwinville to spend some time with our extended family at Lacie's house.  Stella is wild about Lily...

Cille too...

How great does Alaina look?  In this photo she was about a month and a half away from giving birth to twins!
Silly boys...

All the kids (and the adults) had a great time playing together...
Merry Christmas!

Home for Christmas, Part 5

So, the truth is, Stella guessed that we got them a rock wall.  Guess the harnesses were a dead giveaway.  We haven't done stockings in many years, mostly because they don't really fit into the Christ-centered Christmas that we try to teach our children.  In fact, it had been so long since we did stockings that Corinne did not even have a stocking.  Since we were giving them the rock wall, Damon relented his stocking ban and let me fill the kids' stockings and hang them in various places on the rock wall so they could retrieve them...
Corinne's was obviously the lowest...
Watts' was up a little higher...

I think he likes it...although it's hard to tell who is happier, Watts or Daddy...

Meanwhile Corinne was exploring what this stocking business was all about...

Cille got hers down like a pro...

Stella's was the highest kid stocking on the wall...

I think this face means she's excited?  She's 8, so it's sometimes hard to tell...
My stocking was a little higher than Stella's...
But sadly, it was empty...
By now we had attracted the attention of some neighbors, who probably think we are mental cases...
Damon's stocking was highest of all...

I wonder if this was a rock climbing attire first?  Christmas jammies and Ninja Turtle slippers...nice combo...
Rock walls: fun for the whole family...
Since the belay is hydraulic, we had to put a rope on Watts in order to pull him back down.  He didn't weigh enough to come down on his own...

Even Pawpaw took a turn on the wall...
The family that rock climbs together stays together?  Visits physical therapy together?  Something like that...
2016 was a very memorable Christmas for our family for many reasons, but the most important one was on our family card:

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all people. I Timothy 2:5-6

Our savior and ransom has come to set us free!  May we  carry the miracle of Christmas in our hearts all year long!
