The Mighty Hunters

Pawpaw's main winter pastime is hunting, and Stella took her first hunting trip with him a few years back, but schedules have been a lot more hectic for the three younger siblings since then, so it wasn't until this year that Cille and Watts got to make their first hunt together.  Here they are, all camouflaged and ready to go...
Daddy took Cille to a stand and Pawpaw took Watts.  Rubber boots were a necessary piece of equipment, as you can probably tell by the state of Damon's pants in the post-hunt shot...
No animals were harmed on the hunting expedition, since Watts and Cille are really more conservationists than hunters, but a good time was had by all.

Field Trip Fun with Watts

What better place to find dinosaurs than the swamp, am I right?  Watts' class visited the Prehistoric Park in Henderson to wrap up their unit on dinosaurs.  He had a great time...
...and courteously followed the rules...
But his favorite spot may have been the playground instead of the dinosaurs, although I guess a jungle gym could be considered the "dinosaur" of playground equipment since parks don't really have them anymore...

We had tons of fun hanging out together!

Grandparents Day

I was so excited to serve on the Grandparents Day committee at school this year.  Can you believe that this was the inaugural Grandparents Day event for our elementary division?  I always really enjoyed grandparents day at my school, although now that I think about it I can't remember if my grandparents actually attended.  Oh well, Stella and Cille had plenty of visitors...
The grandparents were able to watch the 4th graders perform a few songs, hear a few words from our pastor and superintendent, and visit the kids in their classrooms to complete a few crafts together...
We are thankful for all the grandparents who pour love into the lives of our kiddos, the ones that could attend, the ones that couldn't, and even the ones that have adopted us...

Best. Babysitter. Ever.

Our sweet Madeline is so thoughtful and just all around awesome that I have to spend a post bragging on her.  For the kids' birthdays and Christmas she always goes way above and beyond to choose the coolest gifts for them, and she is generous enough to give up her free time to experience things with them and make them feel special.  Watts' Christmas gift this year was a New Orleans Pelicans shirt and tickets to a game with his favorite person, Madeline! While he was there he even got his face painted...
And got ice cream and balloons...
And got to hang out with "big boys" like Madeline's brother and his friends...
They even got to go on the court and take a few shots!
So basically, Watts has lived the dream of all little boys thanks to Madeline.  Thank you so much, sweet girl!  We love you!

Building a Life Together

Okay, maybe not a life, but some nifty perpetual date calendars at the Home Depot kids' workshop...
Poor Watts was sick and home with Daddy, so this was a girl power construction zone...
That afternoon, we headed to Slidell for a New Year with Old Friends!  Lots of our favorite former LaPlace residents were there.  Together, we have 15 children split among 5 families in this photo.  Two boys were missing from the photo, so we really have 17 kids!  Wow!  Have we been productive!
Stella could not get enough of sweet Brooks...he's a cuddler just like her!

Mom friends...I love this group of ladies.  They have mentored, sharpened, and ministered to me as a mother.  I am so blessed to count them as friends...
In my opinion, God gives you two families: the family you are born into, and the family of your heart.  We found many members of our heart family during our time in LaPlace.  Even though we have been spread from Saudi Arabia, to San Antonio, and lots of places in between, I am so thankful that God allowed us to build our lives and families together, and I treasure the times we are able to reunite and feed our souls together.
