Let's Roll!

After warming up at Stella's school Mardi Gras parade, the girls were ready for more bead-catching action.  Mawmaw and Pawpaw joined us in LaPlace for the festivities.  We parked at Jamie's house, which is conveniently located just off the parade route, and snacked on some Sonic while we waited for the parade to get underway...
I'm not sure what she's laughing at, but it must have been hilarious...
I love that I am the only one aware a photo is being taken...
Now Cille is aware, but still not into it...
See?
Cille really enjoyed meeting the Andouille Queen...
And who is that lovely lady?  Wait!  It's our sweet and talented friend Chrissy Carter!  She was this year's Sugar Queen...
Cille pooped out before the parade was over...

But Stella was still going strong...

After a power-nap, Cille was ready to catch something...

The girls are basically bead and stuffed animal magnets at these parades...
These pictures are to prove later that Jamie was in fact at the parade with us.  Just in case there's any dispute later, no one else can claim her.  She's "our" Jamie...

Whoa!  Check out that bling!
These headbands were so cute that it was almost worth washing glitter out of their hair for a week...

Here's Stella showing off her favorite catch of the day...

Our Mardi Gras Princess

Laissez les bon temps rouler!  This Mardi Gras, Stella had the chance to get into the carnival spirit by throwing beads to all her friends at the St. Timothy's Three Year Old Class Mardi Gras Parade!  Our tiny royal dressed as Rapunzel for the festivities...
Daddy engineered our wagon into a mini-tower for Rapunzel, complete with bead holders...
Cille really wanted to look her best for the parade...she's very serious about her make-up...
Finally it was time for the floats to roll...

Stella made sure to save plenty of loot for her bestie, Molly Jane...
Sometimes catching beads is a little scary...
When her big sister wasn't throwing fast enough, Cille decided to take matters into her own hands...
Did I mention that Rapunzel ditched her wig when the parade began?

When the parade was over there was still plenty of fun to be had, posing with the other princesses...

Snow Bunnies

Back during Mardi Gras break of 2012, Damon and I had one of our less stellar ideas, and decided to take a little ski trip with the girls.  What better place for a pregnant chick to hang out than in a frozen tundra filled with ice and snow, right?  No slippery surfaces there, that's for sure.  And kids raised in the south LOVE temperatures below freezing, am I right?  Turns out no, we were not right.  This trip was an ill-conceived idea, and at the end of it, the one good thing that I can say about it is that it was relatively inexpensive, thanks to using credit card points to purchase the flights and only having to pay for lift tickets for Damon since I was incubating Watts and therefore excluded from sports which could possibly cause me serious bodily harm.  Here are the girls all dressed up in their snow gear that we borrowed from the Guillorys.  They remind me of that kid in A Christmas Story who falls down and can't get back up...

Stella went to ski school for one day.  She hated it.  At the end it was such a bad experience for her that Damon made a small scene and they refunded his money without him even asking for it.  It was THAT BAD.  She was also exhausted afterward...
Cille was pretty worn out, too, but she was actually just pretending to sleep in this picture...
On the bus ride back to the condo they both crashed...
Cille had to be carried off of the bus and continued her nap sprawled out on a bench in the ski shop...
Since skiing was not really Stella's thing, we tried a few other activities the next day...

See how much fun Cille is having?

At the top of the mountain!
The kids did enjoy playing in the snow fort...until they got cold again, anyway...

Nice hat, Damon...

We thought Stella would love snow tubing.  Like most thoughts we had on this trip, we were wrong...

Eventually the girls were so cold, miserable, and tired that Damon had to carry them both back to the gondola.  We felt pretty outdone by the whole experience...

They both fell asleep on the way down the mountain...
On the car ride back to the airport, Stella said, "Dad, the next time we go on vacation, can we just go to the beach?"  I had already vowed to myself that we will not take them skiing again until Stella is a teenager.  Hopefully if we even consider it I can pull up this blog post and use it to help us make a smarter choice!
