Halloween

Those who know us know that Halloween is a HUGE deal for our family.  For many, many years we have dressed up as a family and our old neighborhood had an absolute utopic Halloween block party and hayride tradition.  Our first year in a new neighborhood had us not really knowing what to expect, but lucky for us the Chambley's were there to show us the ropes...
Unfortunately, it was FREEZING on Halloween night.  That stopped absolutely NONE of the children from visiting the snowball truck on Memorial Tower...

Our theme this year was Mary Poppins.  We realized that poor Cille had never gotten to be the "star" of the Halloween theme, so this was her year!  Isn't she practically perfect in every way?
Stella was fresh off her run as a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins the Musical, so she recycled that costume for our family theme.  She claimed to be a girl chimney sweep, although I wanted her to be Bert.  You decide...

Corinne was Jane Banks, although we had to layer her up with some under armour for warmth...
Cille saw some school friends out in the neighborhood...
Watts was Michael Banks, although he hated this costume and changed into Captain America before we went trick-or-treating.  Party pooper...
Damon was Mr. Banks, and I was Mrs. Banks, of course.  Votes for Women!

Damon was the only one whose costume was weather appropriate...
We had a great, though chilly, first Halloween in UClub, and we learned a few things about how Halloween can be done best in our new neighborhood.  We can't wait for next year!

Boo at the Zoo

Boo at the Zoo is always a blast at Audubon Zoo.  This year Madeline had a special costume plan for Corinne.  Isn't she a cute little dragon?
Watts was able to recycle his Dragon costume from last year's Sleeping Beauty theme, and the two baby dragons allowed Madeline to become Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons...
Stella and Cille wanted to get in on the theme also, so they creatively decided to recycle some old dance costumes and become flames for the baby dragons...

Here are the dragons breathing fire...
A couple of fireballs...

We had a great night trick or treating at the zoo with these cute kiddos!

Pumpi Longstocking

Each year in 4th grade the Parkview students create pumpkins designed to look like characters from some of their favorite books.  Cille presented "Pumpi Longstocking"...
Cille painted the face solo, and Mom helped a little with the hair.  Great project, Cille!  Now Pumpi has found a permanent home on our children's bookshelf.

Keeper Ranch

Watts was in for a real treat in October when Pawpaw and Daddy took him to Keeper Ranch in Texas for a trophy hunt.  He bagged a big one...
It was difficult to discern who was more excited, the mighty hunter or the grandpa...
There were multiple photo shoots with the deer.  This one was immediately after the hunt...isn't the Texas sky gorgeous?
It was also Watts' weekend with Tucker the Turtle from his first grade class.  Watts made sure that Tucker used hearing protection...

Tucker loved seeing all the deer in their natural habitat, but Watts had to remind him to keep quiet...
Tucker even made some new friends!
He thought about taking a swim, but decided it was a tad too cold...
Watts had a great hunt at Keeper Ranch and hopes to return again someday soon!

Brigham's Baby Shower

One of the first big events we hosted at the new house was Brigham's baby shower!
We got furniture and the last of the holes in the walls patched up just in time for the shindig!
Stella made a ton of Oreo balls and was ready to dig into them...

Nana and I spend the night staying up late to prepare lots of fun finger foods...
Then our guests arrived!
It was a beautiful fall day...
The mom-to-be absolutely glowed...

We stuck with a simple theme of fall and baby pictures of Tab...
I loved the way this rainbow fruit tray turned out...
Madison did a great job on the shower cake...it tasted even better than it looked, if you can imagine that...

Oh, Tab, I have loved you your whole life.  I can't wait to meet your sweet boy and cuddle him the way I used to cuddle you!  Hopefully he is more agreeable during his toddler years than you were-haha.  I am so excited for you and Seth as you set out on the adventure of parenting...

Church and School Fun

Not much going on around here, but the big kids have been busy serving in kids' worship...
And attending homecoming parades.  Clearly cuteness and poor eyesight run in our family....
Corinne had a blast at elementary STEAM night...
I love it when they're sweet to each other!
