Corinne's First Day of Kindergarten

You may have noticed a special someone not having a sign in the last post, and that's because the early childhood division does a staggered start schedule and Corinne's first day was a couple of days after the big kids.  To get ready the night before, we had a special bedtime story...
Then we had a whole family photo op the next morning...

Corinne's class has a Toy Story theme and they got to make Forky on their first day to be their friend...
Corinne made some new friends on her first day of school, but she already knew some of her classmates from church or siblings...
Corinne chose a very viable career goal...

I am not sure who was more nervous in the carpool line, me or Corinne.  Corinne was my child in preschool who had to have an elaborate ritual of washing her hands and hugging and kissing multiple times in a specific order in order to be dropped off without tears.  To be honest, I was afraid she had pretty severe OCD, it was that over the top.  Then we were together in a house for 6 months thanks to a pandemic, and thanks also to that pandemic, parents weren't allowed inside the school building for the first drop off.  My terror alert was on orange and I did not know how this was gonna pan out.  Can I tell you that when we pulled up to the front of the line Corinne hopped out and waved at me like a pro?  No tears from this kid, not even a look back! There were tears in the car afterward, but they were mine...

My last kindergartener...

And here's a comparison shot of all four of our little Eagles on their first day of kindergarten at Parkview Baptist School...

And although Corinne is actually in T1, we are still calling it Kindergarten for her because it is her kindergarten year, even though she got bumped up a little bit.

Back to School!

We were full of school spirit for the first day back at in-person school!
If you would like to look back at prior first day of school photos, click here...
Okay, this photo was not actually taken on the first day of school.  Thanks to Covid, parents weren't allowed in the classrooms for drop off on the first day, but we did get the option to wear uniforms and take staged first day of school photos at Meet the Teacher.  We are thrilled that Watts will get to be a Bergie Baby, just like Stella was...

The baby grew up...

Corinne will be in Transitional 1st Grade this year.  Since she is a November birthday and was on the older side of the group, they decided to give her a challenge...

Guess who's a middle schooler now?

Stella and her two besties.  They don't have a cool acronym like Cille and her friends, but they are still awesome...

The cheerleaders and Junior Steppers got all decked out to welcome their friends to school in a flurry of pom-poms! A.C.E. in the house!
First day of school and first day of dance class for the year, all rolled into one...
Corinne has Mrs. Kemp this year as her teacher and we are so excited!  Mrs. Kemp was amazing with Watts and we know she has big things in store for Corinne...

Happy Birthday, Watts!

Birthday breakfast with this big 8 year old boy!
Watts' birthday was on a Friday during the last few days of summer, so he got to have his party on his actual birthDAY...

Since this was a pandemic party, we kept the guest list small and the birthday boy decided which friends he wanted to invite.  Like most 8 years olds, he chose one friend his own age, two high schoolers, a college kid, the librarian at his school, and our music minister's family (their kids are in college and high school also).  That's totally normal, right?
Nana and Spencer spent the night with us, which meant crepes for breakfast!  Yum, yum!
Graham has got to be on of the nicest kids on the planet...
I'm not sure if Brock had more fun playing with Watts or with Damon...

It's not a party without Watts' extra sister...

Ready for (nerf) war...
