Puppies Have Tails

A few minutes ago, Stella told her daddy that I hit her. Since this was not true, I tried to explain to her that she should not say that because when you say something that is not true, you are telling a tale. She replied, "No, I not have tail! Puppies have tails!" I am now trying to come up with a new approach.

Strawberry Patch Kids

Yesterday Stella and her friends Lilly and Cohen went to the strawberry patch. Here's Stella in action, picking her own berries... She was very excited to be there...
She expertly removed all the leaves from the strawberries she picked...
The cutest little migrant worker ever...
While acting as staff photographer, Mommy accidentally sat on a gigantic, luscious, red strawberry. Stella was kind enough to loan me a wipe and help clean up my backside. I got to wear the red badge of courage on my bootie for the rest of the day...
Stella loved sorting the berries...
And running up and down the rows...
Have you ever tried to get two toddlers to look the same direction and smile at the same time? This is about as good as it gets...
These horsies were featured at the pumpkin patch, but Stella was not a fan. Now that she is a little older, she was ready to saddle up...
She and Cohen had a great time riding the ponies together...
The strawberry patch also featured a petting zoo. You will probably see a lot of this "hands on the hips" pose from Stella. I am not sure who she has seen stand like this...
Stella was very intrigued by the large cow. She says Grandpa Crane really likes cows...
She petted the piggies and took me back to my carefree childhood days with PeeWee pig, my favorite pet porker...
But she returned to the moo cow. The lure was just too strong...
Stella felt that all the animals must be hungry. She also felt that they all must eat hay. She offered hay to every animal in the petting zoo, but had no takers...
Hands on the hips because the other kids were too close to her cow...
Swinging is really more Cohen's thing than Stella's, but everytime she sees him swinging, she thinks that she wants to swing, too. He makes it look that fun. That is how this picture happened. She really just sat in the swing for a few seconds and moved on to other things...
For most of the time we were there, a busload of big kids were hogging the merry-go-round, much to the frustration of Cohen. When they left, we took advantage of the vacant playground to give the little kids a turn. This is the best picture of the fun that we could achieve while Emily and I carried diaper bags, convinced our kids to hold on tight, used one hand to slow down the kid who was pushing the merry-go-round, and used the other hand to snap photos. Who says we can't multitask?
Stella did a little farming at the patch...
She and Cohen even shared the tractor, which was so cute!
Since Emily and Cohen made the mistake of riding with us, they were our prisoners for the day (Jamie knows exactly how this feels) so we dragged them to Metairie with us where I played the pregnancy card and convinced Emily to supervise the McDonald's playground fun...
I am not sure why I think Stella needs a playground for entertainment. She is obviously just as thrilled to hang out with shoes...
I mean, this kids LOVES shoes!
The strawberry patch was tons of fun. Stella couldn't wait to sample her harvest once we got home...

More spring break fun coming soon!

Our Little Cupcake

I don't feel the need to type much of an explanation here...

The Strawberry Festival

Saturday Damon had the great idea to take Stella to the Strawberry Festival in Ponchatoula. Unfortunately, by the time the plan was actually put into action, it was almost dark, and let's just say that the festival crowd had taken a downward turn since the more "family friendly" daylight hours. We were able to make it to the petting zoo, where we took a few pictures with Mawmaw's iPhone to commemorate the event... Pat the bunny...
Don't pat Claude, he might bite...
Maybe next year she can get an actual strawberry at the festival.

Huntin' Some Eggs

Saturday morning Stella had some of her friends over to hunt Easter eggs... You will have to enlarge this photo to appreciate 1 empty lot, 9 egg hunters, several dozen plastic candy-filled eggs, and lots of camera-wielding relatives snapping away...
Ooh, she found one!
Stella was amazed that the eggs had things hidden inside them. She wanted to open every one she found right there on the spot...
Only a couple of minutes into her hunt, the basket was already full...
We finally let her try a treat from inside the eggs...
She thought it was gross...
So she did what we do with anything gross around here: she fed it to Daddy...
Kelly's serious child...
Once Stella found out some of the eggs contained Starburst, the hunting was over and the eating began...
The beautiful Raney family paused for a group shot. At least, Dad and Mom paused; Cohen never stopped chewing his loot...
The Millets are accomplished family picture takers. We always look forward to their well-posed Christmas cards...
Still eating Starburst...
Such sweet friends!
Lora made sure that Baby Bird felt included...
From Stella's expression, this must have been the most fun wagon ride ever. The expression on Ethan's face was not the same, since he was pulling about 100 pounds of girl through the grass...
Cohen wondering why we don't have more little boys his age...
Here are our best attempts at a group shot of the egg hunters. Stella obviously had to be bribed with Starburst...
By the time she was finished chewing and ready to smile, Cohen had had enough and was ready to escape...
We had a great time hunting eggs and pumping our children full of sugar. Can't wait to do it again next year with even more egg hunters!

GREAT Friday

On Good Friday, we headed over to Erwinville for some Easter fun with MawMaw and PawPaw. Stella was pleased as punch to find stick-on earrings in her Easter basket...She shared some fried fish and laughs on the swing with MawMaw and PawPaw...

I wonder what was so hilarious?
It's still funny!
She took a spin on her four-wheeler...
Hunted for some eggs...
And learned how to play a new game...
It was a fun game...
She eventually figured out that the game required two eggs but not two players...
She let Daddy play, too...
She invited us to join her in her new birthday present...
Does it look like she was having fun?
Smiles and static abound in the new bouncer...
It was hair-raising experience...
