Stella's BirthDAY

Stella's birthDAY was on a Sunday this year, and that morning was also the 48 hour mark for mom after her umbilical hernia repair.  Turns out being pregnant 4 times can really be tough on the old belly button.  I had evacuated to Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house after surgery for my recovery, and our plan was to evacuate me yet again to Mawmaw Shirley's so that I would be safe from any unintentional injuries that the kids might visit upon me. Even though I was still feeling rotten, I missed my munchkins and hung around so I could see my birthday girl and the rest of my babies.  Dad did a great job at solo parenting all weekend, and even managed to take the kids to church and pack play clothes for their visit to the grandparents afterwards.  Move over, John Guillory, there's a new Mr. Mom in town!
As always, the siblings got gifts from the grandparents for Stella's birthday.  It's just what they do.  Corinne was overjoyed with her surprise...
Watts may have just been a little overwhelmed...

Cille was...
ECSTATIC!

Finally it was Stella's turn...

The wall hanging behind her looks like moose antlers...

And her big gift, complete with funny faces from Cille...

Mawmaw had also gotten the kids a piƱata...

Everybody took a whack at it...

Stella had a wonderful day celebrating with her loved ones.  It's hard to believe that she is already nine years old.  As her daddy so devastatingly put it, her time in our home is basically half over.  We pray that we are guiding her to grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.  Please join us in praying that God would guide Stella in His perfect will for her life.

Stella's Rock Climbing Birthday Party, Part 2

Here's our extreme 9 year old...
I love this pic of Caroline in action...
A group of very adventurous girls...
Time for some cake!
We did candles twice so that she could have regular candles and the singing spinning candle...
Cille and Molly taking a break for some cake...
Even Claire climbed the wall!
This dude's an old pro...

Sweet sisters helping each other get harnessed up...
The smaller ones were really stoic about the whole thing...
Corinne loved spending time with baby Emi...
And her flamingo from "Miss 'Tacy," as she calls her...

One girl going up, one girl going down.  The whole day was like a Dr. Seuss book...
Corinne wanted a turn and was incensed that she did not have her harness...
But Pawpaw is more harness than any kid needs...
Our Sharbie Barbies were too light to come down on their own, so we pulled them down with a rope...

Even the big brothers took a climb...

Sisters at the summit...

Why was Watts so happy?
Because he finally had other boys to play with...

We left the wall up overnight and hit it again in our jammies the next day...
Corinne finally got her harness!

And our weekend ended at urgent care, as all good parties do.  Stella was a casualty of the bouncer, not the rock wall.  It was time to pick it up, but she wanted to do a trick for Dad "one more time."  Parents: always beware of the words "one more time."  They lead to things like sprained ligaments...
