More Mardi Gras

Since Stella didn't get to attend the first parade with us, we decided to "catch" (pun intended) another one on Friday night.  Grandpa Crane and Grandma Tonie were in town, so I sneaked off for a quiet dinner with them, Watts stayed with our favorite babysitter, and Mawmaw, Pawpaw, Pam, the girls, and Damon set off for the Southdowns Parade...
Looks like they had a little time to kill before the parade rolled...

Love the wad of gum in her mouth.  I never let them have gum so that is a special Mawmaw treat...
How cute is this little pixie?  Love her!

Apparently the lights at night are big and bright at a Mardi Gras parade...

Beads in the air!
Wow.  This poor woman...

Pam is the perfect parade companion because she has almost as much energy as the kids...

Cille is completely overwhelmed in this one...
Showing off her loot...

These two...my prayer for Stella is that one day her connection with her heavenly father is as strong as her connection with her earthly one...

Must have gotten chilly...

Stella is asleep; Cille is playing possum...

See what I mean?
Cille Beck: ALWAYS the last one to fall asleep...

The girls had a blast and were completely exhausted and limp when Damon carried them into the house that night.

Great Wolf Lodge Video

Somehow this video from our visit to Great Wolf Lodge back at Mardi Gras never made it to the blog.  Enjoy!

My Sweet Buddy

When you have three kids in the house, sometimes you just wish for a little peace and quiet.  But then there are other times, times when you sneak into their rooms and see them sleeping like little angels and you just sit back and wonder at the miracles that God blessed you with.  When I found my precious little boy slumbering with his beloved noo-noo's I had to snap this picture.  Watts is my sweet baby, my favorite boy in the world,  my beloved little buddy.  I wish I could freeze him like this forever...

School Pictures

Due to scanner issues, it has taken me a while to post the girls' school pictures from this year.  Watts should have a school picture, too, but he was a conscientious objector on picture day and therefore there is not one in existence.  Here is my sweet kindergarten gal...
And my big three year old girl...

Stella's First Tooth

February 24, 2014 was a very big day, Pasquale.  That's because Stella LOST HER FIRST TOOTH! Okay, okay, she had a little help from the dental hygienist, but still.  Here is the patient waiting for Ms. Lisa to give her tooth a wiggle...
 Guess what's in here?
 We have extraction!
Her tooth in all its glory...
 Toothless...
I guess I should explain why we had to go to the dentist for a loose tooth to fall out.  The adult tooth was coming in behind it instead of underneath, so instead of falling out the loose tooth had basically shifted over and wasn't really wiggling much anymore. We wanted to check it out and see if she needed any assistance.  Turns out the roots were gone and it was just waiting for a good strong tug.

And now we get to the funny story about the tooth fairy.  In recent years I have mercilessly picked on my friends about giving their kids $20 bills from the tooth fairy.  I mean, come on, when I was a kid you were lucky to get a dollar's worth of quarters, but in today's world where nobody really carries cash, tooth fairy money can be hard to find.  Then there is the dilemma of the family that has outlawed Santa and the Easter Bunny allowing the tooth fairy to visit their children.  Luckily Damon stepped in and took care of that one for me.  He told Stella that he was the tooth fairy, but that if she wanted to play the game then she could put her tooth in his special tooth pillow from when he was a little boy (that my mother-in-law kept along with everything else Damon has ever touched) and she would have a surprise in the morning.  When her tooth came out, I quickly checked my wallet and thought, "Score!" because by some miracle I had two $5 bills in there.  $5 seemed reasonable to me for a first tooth.  Well, that night we met Mawmaw and Pawpaw at Johnny's Pizza for dinner to show off Stella's new gap-toothed smile.  While we were there, a young guy asked me for $8 for a taxi because his car had broken down and his roommates were out of town.  Without thinking about the tooth, I just told him it was his lucky day and handed over all my cash.  (Which is totally unlike me; I am always very skeptical of people asking for money and usually won't give them any.  Damon always does, and I have been praying that I would be more generous and Christ-like in this area, so here was my big chance.) As we were leaving the restaurant it dawned on me that I had given away the tooth fairy money! I had to ask my in-laws for cash and the smallest thing that they had was a $10 bill, so here is Stella with her prize in the morning, compliments of Mawmaw and Pawpaw...
