Lost in New York, Part 2

Corinne gave Daddy some sweet kisses waiting in the security line for the Statue of Liberty Cruise...

Who loves an audio guide? These two kids!  They wanted to listen to each available recording IN ITS ENTIRETY.  Don't even think about rushing them or asking them to skip a number.  From now on, we're only going on vacation to places with audio guides...

We had a tour to make at the Tenement Museum, so we ran short on time at Ellis Island...

Not sure how we're back to the limo already, but here we are...
Almost too engrossed in their audio guides to pose for the photo...

The Tenement Museum tour was only available for ages 8 and up, so the audio guide wonder-duo and the grandparents stayed at Ellis Island where they could enjoy ALL the recordings...
Epic selfies...
She's the same size as the toes!
My selfie game is not nearly as strong as that of my children...

See what I mean?

I'm loving my wind-blown Cille...

Donuts in a limo!  Classy all the way!

This is one of Watts' favorite photos to use in school projects...

It was a little windy on the pedestal...

The inside of Lady Liberty...

We were able to snag a table at Tavern on the Green where we drank ALL the hot chocolate...

And Damon and Stella ate this rack of lamb, or whatever it was...
We all look like vampires thanks to the lighting, but the restaurant atmosphere was the coolest...
But not so cool that the kids didn't want to hit Ellen's for breakfast on the way out...
Our chariot awaits...

So long, New York!  Hope to see you again soon!

Lost in New York, Part 1

We decided to take another bite out of the Big Apple for fall break.  Somehow our photos are out of order, so we did not start out at the Capezio store, but we ended up there and Corinne had to take a photo like the big girls...
Ellen's Stardust Diner is pretty much an NYC staple for our family, so of course we had to eat there...multiple times...
This kid was thrilled to see Frozen on Broadway!  Her first Broadway show in NYC!  Three years old, just like all of her siblings... (Stella, Cille, Watts)
Traveling back in time through the miracle of out of order photos, here is Corinne enjoying her time in the airport...
And Cille and Mawmaw enjoying their time on board the plane...
The Capezio store in all its glory...
Street rats...I mean, kids in the subway...
I was trying to take a cool long exposure shot with the subway car in the background, but alas, I failed...
Super fancy limo ride from the airport to the hotel...don't tell the kids we only sprang for this because it was only $20 more expensive than the van...
Waiting for the limo...thanks again, out of order photos...
Here is a little bit of long exposure magic...not great, but better...
Frozen with Pawpaw!  Probably his favorite show since Matilda...
Back to the dance store...
Sweet little Broadway-loving buddy...his favorite part was "when they were naked." Sigh.

Learning some history lessons on our trip...
Here we go!  Finally!
Dad gets worn out on planes...
The kids were iPad strong, though...
Meanwhile, back at the dance store...
This one's blurry...
When you're from Louisiana and you just can't resist mass transit photo ops...
Early morning or late night limo ride to or from the airport...can't remember which one...
Plane buddies...this is the peanut free row...
Limo family photo, grainy for added effect...
OK, Dad, this is starting to get embarrassing...
Ready for some fun!
Back to Ellen's!
The next best thing to seeing Mean Girls on Broadway?  Buying the tickets and scanning in before your dad decides that the show is too racy for you and you're not allowed to see it...
Sooooo....they abandoned ship and went to Wicked...

Where Cille got streamered...
And to round out the day, how about a little Once On This Island?  Stella performed in the junior version last summer so she was pumped to see professionals interpret it...

More NYC fun to come, but I'll leave you with more of us touristing on the subway...
