Road Trips Rock!

We kicked around a few destination ideas for Spring Break travel, but ultimately waited too late to book any flights, so we ended up bound to only destinations we could reach by car.  We settled on San Antonio, or as Watts called it, "Sandy Annio," and decided we would take our time getting there and let the journey be part of the adventure.  We spent the night in Katy on the way, and in the morning discovered the coolest indoor climbing gym was right next door to our hotel...
These kids can fight like cats and dogs all day, every day, but give them a challenge and they start working together and being each other's biggest cheerleaders.  I love to see Stella teaching and mentoring Corinne on the rock wall. It makes me feel like we have not totally failed as parents...

Watts was really into the bouldering rooms...

"Look, Ma! No hands!"

This was our first big family road trip in the electric car, so that helped dictate our hotel choices along the way.  Had to be a hotel with the right charger...

Part dancer, part monkey...
Speaking of monkeys...

One of our goals at the climbing gym was to wear the kids out before the next leg of the road trip.  Looks like we accomplished that mission...

Mawmaw Shirley is probably wishing we would all fly our freak flags a little lower, at least when she's on the trip...

Not sure why this one is tired.   He climbed absolutely nothing.  Watching your grandkids work out must be exhausting...

The kids had a great time and have already begged to go back to this gym.  So far I would say our first post-Covid vacation is off to a great start!
