Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve we continued our tradition of attending the candlelight service at church and coming home to share some delicious turkey gumbo together.  This year for the first time I made potato salad, and it turned out to taste pretty okay if I do say so myself.  We also baked a birthday cake for Jesus and the girls had the pleasure of decorating it themselves...

The girls were wearing their robes because they needed to slip into something a little more comfortable after wearing their Christmas outfits to church...

Good thing they changed, since they got a little icing on their clothes...

Cille was a little surprised by how great it was turning out...

The finished product...

Our crew gathered around the table...

The girls each got three candles to put on the cake.  Maybe Watts was upset that he didn't get any candles?

Singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus...

Cille did not have the patience to wait for a fork...

Watts thoroughly enjoyed his cake...

He even shared a little with Daddy...

We added a new tradition this year and each adult read one Christmas-themed bedtime story.  Pawpaw read What Is Christmas?, Mawmaw read Llama Llama Holiday Drama, Grandma Tonie read The Pine Tree Parable, I read The Other Wise Man, and Damon read the Christmas story from one of the kids' Bibles...

When the kids were finally asleep we set to work setting things up for Christmas morning...

Setting up Stella's guitar was by far the easiest part.  Building Cille's kitchen and putting together Watts's car took a little more time...
