A Fun Weekend

We've been having some pretty busy weeks around here lately, so when the weekend comes, we try to make the most of our family time.  This past weekend we tried to squeeze out every last drop of fun that we could from our time together.  We got the party started on Friday night when Damon took the girls on a double daddy date to see the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.  Watts and I stayed home and attended an impromptu block party that sprang up when the children of our neighborhood decided that they all wanted to play in the front yards.

The next morning we ate donuts on our way to Storytime at Burden.  We attended one of these events last spring and enjoyed it so much that we were eager to go back.  This month's story was The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin...
The girls enjoyed the story and had a great time making their own Spookleys out of square party plates.  Watts had a great time exploring the trail through the woods behind the building and getting muddy...
That night the kids went to Maggie's house to play and Damon and I joined our friends Jamie and Alex for a fancy meal and the Grand Opening Gala of the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans featuring KRISTIN CHENOWETH!!!!  It was soooo exciting...
I had to be a nerd and snap a few phone pictures inside the refurbished theatre.  It looks great!  I can't wait to see another show there!

We even had seats near a local celebrity.  That's right, if you look hard enough you'll see that the bald guy on the right is none other than Mitch Landrieu, mayor of New Orleans.  We have attended social events with Mitch in the past and he seems to be a really nice guy who has a great love for the city.  For the concert finale he took the stage and pretty much blew everyone away with his vocals as he led several local choirs and professional performers in singing the finale to Les Miserables.  It was amazing and pretty much convinced me once and for all that this guy rocks...
Sunday morning we had a wonderful time of worship at church and then a lazy afternoon of napping before visiting a local park for some play time.  This is such a sweet time of life for us with our three babies.  God has blessed our family beyond our wildest imaginations!
