The Flying Bunny

One weekend when Stella and Damon were feeling a bit under the weather, I decided to take advantage of the three younger kids already being spiffed up for church and visit The Royal Standard for some live bunny Easter photos.  The kids patiently waited in line for their turn, working on crafts and trying to resist the snacks in order to keep their clothing pristine until after the photo.  When it was our turn, the photographer carefully posed the kids and gently placed a sweet little bunny onto Corinne's lap in preparation for the photo.  Then the bunny moved...and ALL HECK BROKE LOOSE! I think Corinne did not realize the bunnies were, in fact, alive, so she was SUPER alarmed when it moved.  She responded by placing a choke-hold on the bunny's neck and flinging it across the room as hard as she could, all the while screaming at the top of her lungs.  It was not the greatest moment in Pourciau-dom.  I thought surely the rabbit would be dead, and Corinne would hence-forth be known as the Baton Rouge Bunny Slayer, but luckily, rabbits are pretty resilient, and it survived her treachery.  It took me a couple of minutes to get her to calm down and quit crying.  Eventually I offered her a fake egg to hold and we took this precious photo...

This photo will always bring a smile to my face as I remember that tiny bunny flying through the air.  Apparently Corinne takes after me in the "not really an animal person" department.

Watts' First Baseball Practice

Cille Gets Her Ears Pierced

On my birthday in 2015, Stella decided it was time to get her ears pierced.  I was not on board.  I was still trying to adjust to having 4 kids, one of which was still an infant, and the last thing I wanted to be responsible for was cleaning someone's earrings so that they didn't get infected.  I was a little surprised when Cille recently asked to have her ears pierced, but soon realized she was about the same age as Stella when hers were pierced!  We picked a free afternoon, and the whole family headed to Claire's in the Mall of Louisiana, where this big girl did not even flinch!

Way to go, Cille!  You are such a big, brave girl, and we are all very proud of you!  I hope you enjoy many pairs of fabulous earrings in the years to come!

S is for Sugar Field Trip

Watts has really been enjoying his year in Ms. Dolly's class, and he has grown and matured so much. It seems like only yesterday that I went on this field trip with one of his big sisters!  I always enjoy visiting the West Baton Rouge Parish Museum because sugar cane is such a big part of the economy in WBR, and lots of Watts's family members are lifelong WBR parish residents.  I think it's great that he gets to learn about the sugar making process in a hands-on way...

Did you know that most of the sugar for Tootsie Rolls in grown right here in West Baton Rouge Parish?

The only other guy I've seen be this enthusiastic about a tea party is his father...

Watts and Corinne School Pictures

Corinne and Watts took class photos and spring pictures at school recently.  I actually did not realize that they were taking their individual shots on the same day, so Corinne just wore some of Caroline's hand-me-downs, head to toe.  Thank goodness Caroline sported such a precious wardrobe and that Corinne has been the beneficiary...

And how grown up does Watts look?  Definitely a big improvement on his first attempt at school photos...

Troop A Safety Fair

On the first Saturday of April we invited our sweet Caroline to join us at the Home Depot Kids' Workshop, and later that day we visited the State Police Troop A Safety Fair in the Blue Bayou parking lot.  The girls got to explore the inside of one of the SWAT vehicles...

And even took a turn around the parking lot on a "train"...

We also got to see a couple of police dogs do a demonstration.  Watts loves policemen and firefighters, so I knew he would enjoy the safety fair, but it really was lots of fun for the whole family.  Stella even beat out all the boys in a push-up contest while wearing a bulletproof vest.  We plan to make the safety fair an annual tradition!
