Watts's Birthday Party, Part 1

Since there are a lot of pictures from Watts's birthday party, I am attempting to split them into three posts.  Bear with me.  First, his decorations!  We finally decided to let his party theme just be "Watts."  Get it?  Like the power unit?  Light Bulbs? I figured this may be my only opportunity to throw a punny party without the birthday boy being peeved.  Plus, at age one, kids aren't really into any characters yet, at least mine aren't because we try to avoid TV until age 2.  Anyway, here is what we came up with...
I asked them to put a light bulb on the cake and then stuck on a couple of real light bulbs of my own...
For party favors we gave flashlights. We attend lots of birthday parties and the party favors are usually big bags of candy.  I have been as guilty of this as everyone else but this year I tried to come up with alternative ideas that would spare parents the post-party sugar frenzy.  I mean, I'm already planning to feed the kids cake, ice cream, and unlimited popsicles before they leave my house, so you gotta give people a break eventually, right?
There is a glare on this picture but the idea is that I decorated the entry table with a framed birth announcement and one of the photos from his birthday photo shoot.  Low maintenance and a nice way to show how much he's grown...
I commissioned these gorgeous and delicious light bulb cookies from our friend Anna Morgan.  See, you don't have to know how to do all these crafty things, you just have to have friends that do...
Speaking of awesome friends, here are two of the best...
Kirk was just as excited for Watts's party as he was for Cille's...
Watts was excited about his cookies...
Skyler was excited about the balloons...

Climbing up...
Getting ready...
The aftermath...Reid is a trip...
Speaking of Tripp...he says tough guys drive pink cars...
Bouncer fun...

How cute are they?
And speaking of cute, our cousin Madison gets more beautiful every time we see her...
Kelly and her favorite girl...
Grandma Tonie tends to talk with her hands a lot...
Aunt Alaina is a very good helper...
Time for some cake!

The big kids were happy to help blow out the candles for Watts...

We tried a family pic, but it didn't really work out...

Aaron licked a light bulb and discovered it was NOT made of sugar...

Yep totally agree about all the sugar! For Audrey's 5th birthday party, I had the parents drop off the girls. We did cupcakes at the very beginning and then the girls were able to work all their sugar off so I could send them home with appetites for lunch. For the gift they took home, they decorated tiaras as an activity and that was their parting gift!
