Cille's 3rd Birthday Party

For Cille's 3rd birthday, we decided to have a Llama Llama party.  Cille loves the Llama Llama books, and her request for her party was to have all her friends come to her house. Since June 23rd is an awfully warm time of year for outside parties, I started trying to brainstorm some inside activities that we could do to lure the kids out of the bouncer and into the air conditioning for at least a few minutes.  We also decided to schedule the party in the evening hoping that the day would grow cooler as the sun set.  Damon used photoshop and the pictures from the last post to create this image of Llama Llama and Cille in their red pajamas.  We ended up using the picture on the invitations and the cake...
I found a Llama Llama doll at Barnes and Noble and used the girls' shopping cart to create a scene reminiscent of Llama Llama Mad at Mama as a centerpiece for the gift table...
I printed some decorations I found online, like this door hanger...
For party favors I ordered Llama Llama Birthday Party sticker books.  These were a big hit and so much less work than goodie bags...
I painted a banner for Cille, at her request.  We started making banners for Mawmaw's birthday and Cille now thinks this is a vital part of the celebration...
I set up an arts and crafts station where the kids could make Llama Llama puppets...I did not come up with all these ideas myself, but instead ripped them off from other people's parties that they posted online...Thanks, internet...
Cille's balloons.  The three ended up tied to her chair and she was mesmerized by it for the next month. I finally threw it away one day when she wasn't around, thinking she would forget about it.  Oh no, she  realized it was gone immediately and was devastated!  I felt like a terrible person for throwing away that saggy deflated balloon....
For entertainment I read a couple of the Llama Llama books to the kids.  We used our baby blanket collection to get the kids involved in the story.  The kids all snuggled under their blankets (thank goodness for AC) while we read and hid under their covers when Llama Llama did...
We also talked about Llama's feelings using a printable I found online...

In this one we are imitating Llama's mad face...

I go a little Amy Duncan on my reading sometimes...Ba-BAM!
"Pull and wiggle, itch and cough..."
Reid and Tucker won the award for cutest jammies.  On the invitation we tried to rhyme as many things with Llama as we could, which led to us asking people to wear their pajamas and bring their mamas.  I think this wording was actually confusing to some of our guests, because I think some people felt like dads shouldn't come...oh, well, you live and learn...next year I will make my invitation less crafty as well as less ambiguous...
Time for some cake!

Men of steel...haha...

Bouncers: fun for ages 5 to 55...

Cille made sure that the piece of cake with her face on it got saved for her daddy...

So sweet...
Tight hugs from Uncle Chad...

Kirk was just so proud to be there...

Cille's boyfriend Evan helped us out with a little light cleaning...that boy's a keeper...

Present opening time ended up being a little chaotic...thank goodness for good friends like Sharareh...she jumped right in and the wrapping paper barely had a chance to hit the floor before she had it tidied up.  You really cannot throw a party at your house without amazing friends and family to help you out. Thanks to everyone who pitched in!

Cille loved all her gifts...
Cohen was so sweet and enthusiastic about his gift for Cille.  His parents have done such a wonderful job of teaching him the joy of giving to others.  They allow him to pick out the gifts that he gives himself and it really gives him ownership and excitement about the process...

A birthday serenade from the lover boy...
Unfortunately, there is also photographic evidence that we have mixed company in bed together at our parties.  What kind of den of iniquity are we running over here?  Maybe we can use this picture for blackmail purposes when these three are seniors...
When the rest of the guests went home we got to keep Molly Jane, and I realized that I had forgotten to have the kids complete one of the party games I planned.  I was really bummed because I had spent a lot of time prepping the "Llama Llama Quilt Color Match" game and then I didn't even use it!  Oh well, at least these four kids and Mawmaw had a good time with it...
Cille, you are such a big girl!  Mommy and Daddy are so proud of our funny little Llama!  Happy Birthday!

All the little kids are looking very cute in these lovely pics from your daughter’s birthday celebrations. The decorations and the cake looks wonderful and I can see that it was an amazing party overall. I’m also hoping to arrange an enjoyable party for my daughter’s birthday next week at the event venue Atlanta.
