The Twelfth Month

It is finally here...the twelfth month. Tomorrow Stella will be one year old. The past month has given us lots of opportunities to reflect on the tremendous blessing that Stella is in our lives. Here is Stella all dolled up for church (she FINALLY left the bow in her hair!):Peeking at Daddy from under the kitchen table...
Playing in her jammies in the living room...
Stella has grown so much in the past year and accomplished so many amazing things. She can now walk, albeit wobbily, across the room from one object to another. She can identify many body parts, including ears, eyes, mouth, head, knees, and toes. She can say Daddy, Momma, ball, bug, uh-oh, blackberry, Scarlett, and Stella, among other things. She can identify certain flash cards, like ball, baby, and fish. She loves animals, and visits the ducks in her backyard everyday. She also had her picture taken with a live bunny last Saturday and had to be moved away from the bunny because she would not stop petting it (rather aggressively, too, I might add). She loves being outside and will fight you to get to the doorknob to go out on the back patio. She can brush her hair and help dress herself. She loves people, and enjoys hamming it up in the grocery store; she waves, smiles, and tells people, "Hi!"

So, one year later, I can honestly say that the things everyone tells you about babies are definitely true. The first year does fly by. You really do forget how tiny they were. They do change everything. You do forget what it was like before you had them. While I can say by default that this was the best year of Stella's life, I can also without a doubt say that it was the best year of mine, too.

The Eleventh Month

Stella's eleventh month was full of activity. Love was in the air, and Stella's feet were not touching the grass. She still hates for grass to touch her feet, and stands like a flamingo anytime you try to put her down in the yard. Here are the lost photos from her birthday photo shoot. We were undecided about which ones to use for the invitations, so we saved a few of our favorites. Seeing these photos is like having an all-access, backstage pass to Stella! Wheeeeeeeee!Stella also discovered the joy of being pulled around in a diaper box. Maybe we should get her a wagon. Stella took her first cruise and visited three foreign countries: Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. Boat ride with Grandpa...Sugar with Aunt Sheila...
Deep thoughts on ducks with Daddy...

The Tenth Month

During the tenth month, Stella discovered the joy of washing dishes, or rather, the joy of taking items out of the dishwasher so that Mommy can experience the joy of putting them back in...over, and over, and over...(Thanks for the onesie, Ashley. Go Tigers!)She visited the zoo in Baton Rouge and marveled at the monkeys. She enjoyed nature in her own backyard by befriending the ducks. She hung out with her best buddies, Sadie and Rylie Sharbono.

Getting Ready for a New Cousin

Stella is very excited, because this May she is getting a wonderful gift: a brand new cousin! This past Friday night Damon and I got to go to Erin's baby shower for little Bethany. Here is the new mommy, surrounded by two great things: friends and gifts! This onesie says it all, "I have Daddy wrapped around my little finger!"The cake was a onesie...Damon LOVED it. (It's a good thing they didn't put decorative snaps on it because the way Damon was inhaling it, he might have choked on one!)
My beautiful cousins, minus Savanah, who was off playing with her best friend. If you use your x-ray goggles, you can see that Bethany is smiling, too. Me and a sweet girl.
Damon and his best buddy.
We had so much fun at the shower! It was great to see everyone and catch up, even if it was only for a few hours. We can't wait to go back and meet Bethany!

The Eighth Month

The eighth month was very busy. Stella's two new teeth had their first photo op...Splish, splash! We took a few baths...We went swinging in the park for the very first time...Had lots of fun playing in plastic containers...Dressed up as a kangaroo with a baby on board for Halloween...Experiencing the joy of wipes at Grandma Crane's for Thanksgiving...(note seasonal outfit)Trying to sneak into Grandma's private stash of good stuff...she got caught...Cousin time with Darren and Savanah...Thanks for the boost, Jessica! Very confused by Uncle Peewee's beard...
Two sweet girls...
Joking around with Grandpa...

Next month....Christmas!

Pourbono Time

On Wednesday, we had a very special treat. Our BF's for life visited us and we were able to have some spectacular Pourbono time! Stella was so happy to see her double best friends. When the girls get older, we can't wait to let them visit each other for weeks during the summer. When Stella visits the Sharbono's she can learn all about country living in Aunt Jen's garden, and when Sadie and Rylie visit us I can teach them all about....ummm...garage door openers? I have no idea what fun aspect of city life I will be able to share, but I will figure something out. Suggestions are welcome. For now, here is a picture of Stella sharing her toys with Sadie...Mommy and Daddy getting a little Stella and Rylie love. The happiest place on earth, our living room. (And I bet you thought it was Disneyworld!)Jen and Stella being exuberant together...Nathan prefers other adjectives.

A pile of pretty girls. I should have fixed the red eyes, but I am short on time and long on tasks these days.
The Sharbono's, still looking young and hot in spite of giving up sleeping for the past several months.
Here are some other recent photos. Stella enjoying one of my birthday strawberries from the Zeringue's. It was one of the best birthday gifts ever! Thanks, guys!
Stella recently was invited to be a guest at a friend's birthday party. It would have been her first one, but she ran fever the entire weekend and had to sit it out. She still got a goodie bag, though, with these party like a rock star shades which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Stella's babysitter also had the flu recently, so she and her friend Tristyn got to spend the week playing musical babysitters. They spent Friday with Grand-mere. Grandpa came to visit and help out toward the end of the day.
