Blogging Milestone

I was shocked recently when I clicked a tab on blogger and discovered that our little ole' blog had 101,734 page views.  Wow!  How did that happen?  The whole reason we started this blog back in December of 2008 was to produce a kind of online baby book for Stella (and later for all our kids) that would chronicle what it was like to grow up in our family and hopefully one day be a tool for reminiscing about the times that we had together.  803 posts later our family has grown from one child to almost four (Corinne will be here in November).  Our blog has changed names a few times, and hilariously our first post was actually an explanation of our first blog title, AStreetcarNamedStella.  If you check out that post you'll see that it was pretty obviously composed by Damon.  When Cille was born we felt like it was unfair for Stella to monopolize the blog title, so we changed the name to OurLittleGirls; two years later we had a little boy.  At that point we decided that PourciauFamily might be a name that we could stick with long-term.  It also in a way made the blog private, because people who can actually spell Pourciau are few and far between.  Anyway, as time has gone on, our blog traffic has increased...

Most of our visitors live in the good old USA, but we do manage to get some international interest, too.  Apparently, we're really hot in the Ukraine...

In a nerd fact, Damon notes that Windows and Internet Explorer are still king regardless of our preference for all things Apple...

Some of our personal favorite posts have been our Year In Review posts that let you see the kids grow up in 20 pictures or so.  We posted them in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. Sadly, I have not gotten around to Year In Review posts for 2012 or 2013.  I blame Watts.  (Just kidding!)

Although we have a large family and lots of friends, I just don't think they're interested in us enough to get us over the 100,000 page view threshold, so it seems to me that lots of strangers out there on the old inter webs are checking us out.  When we looked at the posts that garnered the most interest, they sometimes involved tourist destinations like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney.  Disturbingly, we also had a posts entitled Bath Time and Biloxi Beach Babes that got an abnormal amount of page views.  I blame perverts for those, and it totally weirds me out.

Looking back I am amazed at how our family has grown over these posts. We are so blessed to have our loved ones to share our lives with and the ability to memorialize our adventures together here.  While technology can be a blessing and a curse, our blog is one piece of tech that truly makes our lives richer.  Thanks, Blogger!
