Stella's 7th Birthday Party, Part 1

It's that time of year again!  Time for the Pourciau Parade of Parties.  What will our themes be this year?  Who knows!  Stella decided to start us off with a bang by hosting a cooking party AT OUR HOUSE for her friends.  She shunned the idea of taking this party on location, which led to a mess of gargantuan proportions in our kitchen, but lots of fun for everyone involved.  (Except for the people who cleaned up the mess!) For the first time at one of our parties we had 4 pretty distinct age groups.  The 2-4 year old boy set made themselves right at home in Watts's room...
The first grade gals took over the nursery/toy room until they were ready to create their kitchen concoctions...
We also had some older brothers at the party and a few friends Cille's age, so there was someone for everyone.  If you count Lily and Zachariah we even had a bumper crop of babies, but they didn't play together so I'm not counting them.  Soon it was time to get out those recipe cards.  My grandpa's philosophy is that anyone who can read can cook, so he suggested that I have recipes for the kids to read while they "cooked."  As a former teacher, I thought this was a great idea and I was a little ashamed I had not thought of it myself...
We set up 4 stations with different recipes for the kids to create.  Thank the Lord I have wonderful friends.  All my friends rolled up their sleeves and pitched in to help the kids have a good time and help the party not turn into a total disaster.  I seriously owe these women a spa party of their own so they can relax after all the insanity in the kitchen...
Here we are at the smoothie station.  We had two different smoothie recipes to choose from: chocolate smoothie (made with bananas and cocoa) and fruit smoothies (made with the fruit of their choice and vanilla frozen yogurt)...
We also had a pizza station where we made mini pizzas using Grands biscuit dough...
Missy drew the short straw and ended up manning the Oreo Truffle station for most of the party.  It won the award for the crunchiest part of the floor by parties' end...
Shannon and Anna helped the birthday girl make a strawberry smoothie...
Here is Cille preparing her truffles...

Total. Chaos.  And Mike relaxing in the middle of it cracks me up...

The party favors this year were pink aprons...

How cute is this?  After the girls mixed up their smoothies they took them onto the back patio to sample them.  Are they 7 or 17 in this picture? From the way they're acting it's hard to tell...
Where are the kids?  Jill, Stephanie, and I are still working but it looks like our little helpers have bolted...
Some of them came back to dip truffles in chocolate...

More birthday fun to come!
