One.of.the.Longest.Nights.of.My.Life.

Where should I begin? I guess at the pooping in the bathtub. That's when things first started to go south. Yesterday after school I took the girls into town for a make-up gymnastics class for Stella. We ate at Izzo's on the way home. By the time we made it back, it was bath time and Daddy was home, so yay, I would have help. We decided to bathe the girls in our bathtub so that we could both get to them more easily. Stella requested the Imagination Movers and we were a couple of minutes into the episode when I noticed that Cille was making her poop face. I sounded the alarm, shoved Stella out of the way, and snatched Cille out of her bath seat in time for one piece of poop to fall into the tub and another to fall onto a pile of clothes on the bathroom floor. I sat her on the potty, where she screamed until Damon got me some wipes and I was able to lay her on the floor and clean her up. Obviously, we were going to have to change tubs at this point. I took Cille with me to the girls' bathroom and started running another tubful of water. Cille took this opportunity to pee on the bathroom floor, soaking a rug in the process. After cleaning up this mess, we bathed the girls. By 10:00 p.m. both of them were asleep in their beds, which is pretty good for us. Damon had had a headache all afternoon so he decided to take a bath. I ended up talking to him for about 30 minutes and then hitting the sack. When I first got in the bed I was too keyed up to sleep, so I read until around 10:50 and then went to sleep. The rest of my night was as follows:

11:30 PM Cille wakes up crying. I retrieve her from her bed and bring her to my bed to soothe her back to sleep.

11:50 PM Damon wakes me up to inform me that he now has fever. Thanks, Husband, for waking me up to tell me something that I was already expecting to happen has indeed happened. This may not seem so annoying now, but keep reading and it will.

12:30 AM I try to put Cille back in her bed. She is not having that and comes back to bed with me.

1:30 AM Mission accomplished. Cille is back in the baby bed.

2:00 AM Stella joins me in "Daddy's bed."

2:30 AM Cille wakes up and screams for 5 minutes. I let her soothe herself back to sleep in spite of Damon's protests and suggestions that I "go get her."

3:00 AM Damon wakes me up to alert me that Stella has wet "Daddy's bed." I vaguely remember a comment he made to me about giving her lemonade at bedtime. Why? Why would you do this to me? I have cooked, cleaned, and born children for you for the past ten years and this is how you repay me? Lemonade at bedtime? Way harsh. I also must admit at this point that I have ridiculed Damon in the past for sleeping through Stella wetting the bed. I will no longer do this, because I now realize just how relaxing a big puddle of Stella's urine can seem when you're really tired. Stella and I evacuate to her bed after a tear-filled trip to the potty. I set the alarm on my phone so that I can wake up at 4:50 for work.

3:30 AM Cille screams some more. I follow same plan as 2:30 screaming.

4:15 AM Cille begins to scream, refuses to soothe self back to sleep. I retrieve her from her bed and take her to the loveseat in the living room. We "rest" there together.

4:50 AM My phone alarm goes off, at which point I try to put Cille back in her bed, fail, and must surrender her to "fever boy" out of sheer desperation.

So now you know why Damon and I sometimes seem a little "out of it." It's because we haven't slept much in the past 3 years. For those of you keeping score, that was 6 hours of "sleep" with 10 interruptions. Parenthood is not for the faint of heart.

Oy! What a night! We often have nights of 5-6 wake up "calls" but not from peeing in the bed.
You are right-parenthood is not for the faint of heart!

Oh wow, what a night! We had a very similar situation with Lilly pooping in her tub, then moved to our tub, didn't like being in the big tub so Daddy put on his swim trunks and "swam" with her while I cleaned up the poop. When they were done she peed while walking back to her bathroom and again on her stool while brushing her teeth!

Clay said to just be glad that the girls were not throwing the poop. He said he caught Ethan doing that one time. I told him girls don't do stuff like that. haha
