Make New Friends, but Keep the Old...

One is silver and the other is gold. This week while we were visiting Grandpa Crane for Thanksgiving, we had the opportunity to visit with an old friend and meet a new one at the same time. Linda Gantt, my former teacher and high school principal, and her granddaughter Jasey came over for a little playdate. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I went to school with Jasey's dad, aunt, uncle, and pretty much about 99.9% of the rest of her family. I was taught, coached, and directed by Gantts for the majority of my childhood, and didn't they do a fabulous job, because look how great I turned out! Here are some pictures from our day of fun. First up, Jasey and Stella rock and roll on the porch. This picture was taken when they were still in the "eyeing each other warily" stage... Later Jasey did some artwork as Stella looked on...
This is their "over it" look...
Finally warming up to each other...awwwww...
When Linda Gantt speaks, kids still listen! (Note the fear/awe on Stella's face. I imagine this is a lot how I looked in high school when I got caught misbehaving.)
The closest thing I could get to two smiles...

They had such a good time they even gave each other a sweet hug bye-bye...
Stella had a great time playing with Jasey. It was nice to catch up with an old friend and make such a sweet new one at the same time. We hope the girls can play together again soon.

LOL! That look on Stella's face is priceless. I STILL know that sound of Linda's voice. Terrifying. And her in those heels. I remember crying so hard because she was going to spank me in the principals office that she didn't even do it! I had certainly learned my lesson! So funny!! Good times!

Love the goodbye hug. We are getting a shot like this next time I'm in town.
