Spring Break in Houston

Somehow our photos posted out of order, but we took a short spring break getaway to Houston and explored some new places and old favorites.  Corinne's astronaut dreams were a little derailed after she saw the space toilets at Space Center Houston...
She had really just woken up from a nap...she perked up later and enjoyed her visit...

The flight crew...
I think it was time for another nap for all of them by the time we did the tram tour that afternoon...
Walking on "Mars"...
We had a fabulous day at the Museum of Natural Science exploring their Mummies of the World exhibit.  I have always been fascinated by mummies, and Stella has recently grown interested, so this was really one of our main attractions for the trip.  I think all the good photos must have ended up on Damon's phone, so I may have to go back and add some later.  In the mean time, here is Corinne outside of the museum...
One of our favorite stops in Houston where we could literally spend days is the Children's Museum.  Corinne took some time to make a few phone calls while we were there...

Everyone was fascinated by this challenge.  We spent at least 30 minutes here...
Three monkeys on a wall...Stella would be up there too were it not for the pink cast on her arm in the bottom corner of the photo.  And Corinne had her access denied because she was too little...
Did I mention that Damon let the three younger ones paint their faces while I helped Stella complete a secret spy mission?  Corinne's face tattoo earned her a ride in the back of the cop car.  Hopefully this is not a preview of things to come in her future...
This big boy attended his first major league game on the trip!  Well, all the children did, actually, but it seems more significant for the man-child...

We let them rock their face paint to the Astros game...
For the record, the game was the Astros vs. the Angels, and the Astros lost.  I was sad about that until Madeline told me that her stepdad played for the Angels, and then I felt much better...

Easter Baskets

Those of you who know us well know that we are not big on polluting religious holidays with fairy stories.  The Easter Bunny does not come to our house, and our younger kids probably have no idea what he has to do with Easter.  They do get Easter baskets, but we use a fabulous book my friend Missy gave Stella back in 2009 to relate the items in their basket to the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of our Savior.  This year Damon read the book to the kids before we even brought out the baskets...
Corinne was super excited about the white in her basket...

Watts loved his bow tie, and insisted on wearing it to church, regardless of the fact that it did not match his Easter ensemble...

We managed to hold them off long enough for a group photo...
Or two...
Then it was time to dig in...
Chocolate that is safe for Stella and Corinne is hard to find, so I was excited that these Cadbury Eggs were safe.  Then Damon pointed out that they were probably choking hazards for Corinne.  Oops.
All our kids love books, so they were super excited to have some new ones in their baskets.  We have a bit of a children's book obsession in our house...
Corinne was excited to get a book about Beauty and "da BEAST!" as she calls him...
Isn't she the cutest in her itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny, yellow, polka-dot tankini?
The girls can't wait to sport these on the beach this summer...
The superhero lego books were very exciting.  Just check out Stella's expression for proof...

Happy Easter!

Easter Egg Hunt

We visited the Country Club once again this year to hunt Easter eggs.  Corinne was very amused by the man in the bunny suit...
But she refused to take a photo with him solo...
Daddy is always down for a cuddle, even in the middle of the CCL dining room...
Did I mention that Lily Grace, Mawmaw Shirley, and Aunt Sheila joined us?  Lily Grace's selfie game is strong...
My handsome boy...
Corinne, Watts,  and Lily's group was the first to hunt...

Then Cille...
And finally Stella...
Checking out their loot...
We also ran into some of our sweet friends...
Love these precious young ladies!

Cousins together after the hunt...
