Tremaine

There's never really much to do in December and we have a lot of free time, so we decided to throw in an optional dance convention in New Orleans.  Great idea, right?
Since we weren't competing groups numbers at this competition, we did have time to squeeze in a little fun...
And look who came to visit us?  Our long-lost Madeline!  We love her so much!
Cille and her abs of Cille...

Shake Shack with the dance friends...
My three big girls...

Mrs. Tari would not approve of this dessert...

Stella also has abs of Cille...

Somehow everyone always ends up in our room at some point...

Stella and Cille with one of the instructors.  I am sure she is famous, but I don't remember her name...

Clearly, no one had any fun at this convention and the kids were all miserable...

Christmas Cards in the Quad

Aaaaah, Christmas cards.  There are many schools of thought on Christmas cards.  Some people simply don't have time for that.  We probably should fall into that category, but something inside me can't let go of this tradition.  I believe we have sent cards every year since we had kids.  Sometimes our cards are printed months in advance using beach photos and a professional printer, and sometimes we find ourselves scrambling around the quad at LSU with a couple of iPhones and a maniacal look in my eye as I beg the children to cooperate so we can go home and place a rush order on Shutterfly.  What kind of year do you think this was?

We literally moved trash cans out of the way to take this one.  Hence the dirt circles on the concrete...

I eventually gave up on the perfect group photo and forced the kids to pose for individuals for backup...

Our attire?  Fashions by hand-me-down.  Cille's dress used to be Stella's, and was actually on another Christmas card.  Corinne's came from Caroline, which is why it is so nice...

I am proud to say we were able to get the cards in the mail fast enough for most of them to arrive before the 25th.  Hopefully I will hire someone this year and Damon and I will get back in the picture.  In spite of all the stress that the cards can bring with them in the creation process, I do love looking over our list of recipients as we send the cards out each year and remembering good times and special friends worth reaching out to year after year.  The way that the list continues to grow reminds me that God continues to bless our lives with new friends, and that's pretty great.  Merry Christmas!

Living Nativity

One of our favorite Christmas activities is the living nativity at First Presbyterian Church.  This year baby Brooks stole a little bit of Baby Jesus' thunder, at least as far as our kids were concerned...

All the McIntosh and Pourciau children had a great time celebrating the reenactment of the birth of our savior together!

Cille's Greek Fest

Cille's class marked the end of their studies on Greece and Greek mythology with a Greek Fest...
Grape toss champion, right here.  I am not sure how authentic some of these Greek games were...
The kids wore costumes and presented reports on different characters from Greek mythology.  Cille was Athena and Madeline helped her fashion quite the impressive cardboard shield...
If you are wondering why there are no photos of Stella at her Greek Fest, it is because Stella's Greek Fest was a victim of Covid.

Away in a Manger (in the front yard)

I always wanted an outdoor nativity set, but we never really had room for one in our previous yard.  A couple of years ago Damon made my dream come true.  He and Pawpaw engineered a platform for the set, and this year we added walls and a roof to complete the stable.  Of course we had to paint it as well...
Damon's dream was a paint sprayer, so I guess we both got what we wanted...

The finished product!  Welcome, Baby Jesus!

Our Little Eagle of the Month

We had a feeling this day would come!  Corinne is such a sweet and hard-working girl that she was bound to be Eagle of the Month sooner or later...
She was so excited, and we were so proud of her...
Mawmaw and Pawpaw were there to celebrate with her...
Congratulations, Corinne!  Keep up the good work!

Choir Concert

The annual Christmas choir concert really gets you in the holiday mood...
This year I believe they ran out of the junior high dresses, so the 8th graders got promoted to the high school choir uniforms...

Stella and Cille had to quick change in the car after a couple of hours of dance class in order to make the concert.  Fun times!
