Spring Break in Branson, Part 1

We enjoyed Tennessee so much that we decided to check out Branson, plus Mawmaw and her squad were planning a visit during our spring break.  We made plans to crash their trip with ours, but then work responsibilities made Dad unable to join us.  Damon was nervous about me taking the kids all by myself, but I assured him that if I can navigate Baton Rouge on a daily basis, I could survive Branson.  In retrospect, maybe I was a little too confident.  Really the only family vacation that I took as a child was to Branson, and one of my favorite things was Marvel Cave in Silver Dollar City, so naturally I wanted to take the kids there.  It wasn't until I had all four kids underground and Corinne was so terrified that I had to carry her the entire tour that I realized I may have bitten off more than I could chew...

At least the big kids liked it...
Our hotel was awesome.  Clean, SUPER AFFORDABLE, a gigantic indoor pool, and a delicious and free breakfast buffet...
But back to the bat cave...
This was clearly a very high-brow vacation.  Only the finest when you vacation with mom...
We made candles...
And checked out what God has been up to in the cave...
We ate copious amounts of junk food in the park...
Road trains at the airport...
Took naps in the rental car...

Put a tween where all tweens belong...
Caught some throwed rolls at the OG Lambert's...

Worked on our map reading skills...
Were genuinely surprised by the deliciousness of the rolls...

Road an almost vertical train back to the surface from the depths of the cave...

And took a nature hike...
These kids even enjoyed the airport...

The hike started out happily enough, but the farther we got into the woods the more I thought about cell reception and bears, and the more my terror grew.  We were pretty much the ONLY people on this trail so if we saw a bear, we would only outrun each other, and I didn't want poor Corinne to turn into a bear snack, so I hustled them back to the van pretty quickly...

Some of us were a little nervous about the cave experience as well...

More country fun to come!
