Mrs. Pourciau Goes to Washington

I have always wanted to visit Washington, DC, so when I was offered the opportunity to go there on behalf of the American Lung Association, an organization that is near and dear to our hearts, I jumped at the chance! As soon as we got there we started taking in the sights...
The cherry blossoms were blooming and they were gorgeous...
We visited the offices of our senators and congressmen from Louisiana and mostly spoke to their assistants, but we did get to meet Garrett Graves and it gave me a new appreciation for the job that he does for our state in Washington...
We toured the capitol and learned a lot about that building...
We were even able to visit the Museum of the Bible briefly before they closed for the day.  I took a picture of these stacked stones that represent the monument the Israelites made after they crossed the Jordan River on dry ground because we had been teaching the kids about it in Sunday school the previous week...

It was such an amazing experience to go behind the scenes in our nation's capitol.  We got to eat in a confessional cafeteria and actually sit in on part of a session in the house.  (You had to have special passes and go through an intense security screening.)  Washington is a physically beautiful place, but sadly full of wasted time and loads of thinly veiled corruption.  It is very important to pray for our leaders because they face daily temptations that most of us will never know.
