Bye-Bye, Babybed

In March of 2008, we put together this baby bed for Stella at our house in LaPlace...
We carefully chose gender neutral bedding and decor since we planned to have several children and wanted to avoid purchasing more than one set...

For the next 8 and a half years, the baby bed had several occupants, but apparently we only took pictures of Stella in it...
I did uncover these photos of the nursery in LaPlace when Cille was the crib occupant...
Corinne's room currently features the same baby photos on the wall, with two additional ones...
It was never really this clean...we took these when we were selling the house...
All those years of continued baby bed occupancy ended on September 17th, 2016, when we decided Corinne was ready for a big girl bed.  Taking the baby bed apart looked similar to putting it together, even though the house and the haircut were a bit different...
And how could we possibly say goodbye to a piece of furniture that has been such a big part of all of our lives?  We simply could not, so we converted it into Corinne's big girl bed...
The double bed rails may be overkill, but we Pourciau's are nothing if not cautious.  And thrifty.  If you recognize those curtains, it is because they are recycled from Stella's old big girl room in LaPlace...
After all those years, not only were we having a hard time giving up the baby bed, but I was also struggling with what to do with the bedding.  Lucky for me some of our cousins are expecting a couple of sweet twins soon and they kindly agreed to use our crib mattress and bedding at grandma's house.  It made me feel so much better to know that babies I love will continue to use the sheets and blankets!  The new grandma might be a little overwhelmed when the mobile and curtains show up, but hopefully she learns to like bees as much as we do!
