A Weekend to Remember

When there are four kids in the family, it is easy for the older ones who are more self sufficient to get lost in the shuffle.  Their diapers don't need to be changed, and they can bathe themselves for the most part, so they don't demand the attention that the little ones do.  Since we are experiencing a season of intense focus on the new baby, we thought it would be a good idea for the big girls to take a  trip that put them back in the spotlight and gave them a chance to make some special memories with Dad, Mawmaw, Pawpaw, and Mawmaw Shirley.  We scheduled a trip to Houston, and the first stop was the Houston Zoo to take in the Zoo Lights...
The girls loved this picture with the lion cub in it...
The next morning the group had reservations for brunch at the American Girl Bistro.  They took along Caroline and I Don't Know and made spa appointments for the dolls for that afternoon.  Next stop was ice skating, and while they were waiting around for those spa appointments, they stumbled upon this great playground in the mall...
Poor Watts.  He stayed home with me and Corinne and when he saw these pictures he said, "I wanna do that!"  Maybe next year, brother...

Stella actually got fussed at by Caroline's hair stylist.  Apparently, Downy dunking your American Girl is NOT a good idea.  The poor woman had to brush for 30 minutes just to get the Downy out of the doll's hair.  Caroline also got her ears pierced and didn't even flinch.  After the dolls had their beauty treatments, it was time to head back to the hotel for a nap before attending The Nutcracker at the Houston Ballet.

The girls had a great time on their weekend getaway.  Hopefully the whole family can go next year since Corinne will have had her immunizations and will no longer be in seclusion!
