Stella's 5th Birthday Party

For Stella's 5th birthday, we threw an Easter-themed backyard bash.  All the cool kids were there...
Tripp is secure enough in his masculinity to rock a pink wagon...
It's great to have friends who are animal lovers!  Erika was kind enough to bring one of her bunnies to the party...

Sporty Kelly was there...fresh from her Crescent City Classic Race that morning...
Uncle Henry and Aunt Kay said the jambalaya was good, but not as good as Pawpaw's...turns out The Jambalaya Shoppe is a lot faster, though...

Little homemakers...

The Millet kids loved holding the bunny...the Pourciau kids, not so much...
Since this party was a little low-key on the entertainment front, I found some egg experiments on the internet and gathered the supplies.  Bill Nye I am not, but the kids did seem to enjoy my attempt...
Thank God Ethan was there to explain the scientific stuff...I had no clue about any of it...

Turns out that our experiment to see how many books we could lean on an egg before it cracked didn't quite turn out how I planned...
Cohen was actually able to walk on the eggs without breaking any!  The other guys had a great time breaking them ALL...
My favorite experiment was the bouncing egg.  I soaked it in vinegar for a few days to make the shell nice and rubbery.  It felt cool but smelled disgusting...
We were able to bounce it a few times before the boys got overzealous, so this experiment was a success...
While I was creating a diversion with the eggsperiments, Damon and Pawpaw "hid" eggs all over the backyard for our egg hunt...
Okay, so they really more like "sprinkled" eggs all over our backyard for the kids to pick up.  Our backyard is kinda small and doesn't have many hiding places.  At least the kids got a little exercise before we pumped them full of sugar...

The boys found so many eggs they ran out of room in the their baskets...

The lovebirds...
My friend Katie made Stella's cute birthday/Easter shirt...two birds: one stone!

Bouncing around...
Then it was time for cake!  This year we decided to give Truly Free Bakery another chance.  They are a local bakery specializing in allergen free baked goods.  We had a cake from there for Stella's first birthday party and were disappointed in the taste, but the person taking my order assured me that they had worked out all the kinks in their recipes and their cakes now are truly delicious as well as allergen free.  This was a lie.  I guess I will have to learn how to make fancy cakes myself because this cake was truly nasty.  The taste was okay, but the consistency was like chewing on one of those rubbery life jackets.  It was a little embarrassing to have so many guests and serve such terrible cake.  I apologize and promise to improve.  Please don't boycott my parties!  Apparently, cake needs gluten to be edible. Who knew?

A busy backyard...

Cohen always visibly enjoys his food.  I love that...

Present time!  I am not a fan of opening presents at the party because I think it is cruel to make the other kids sit there and endure, but a few of Stella's friends wanted to see her open their present, so we did it. I may save this for later next time...

I love me taking pictures of Missy taking pictures of Stella opening her presents...
Though she was a little worn out by the end, Stella really did enjoy all the gifts and was thankful for each one...even if her mother was too lazy to finish all the thank you notes...
Mom and daughter both caring for babies...

Did I mention that we had outside decorations for this shindig as well?  I learned how to use deco mesh and made this fancy swag for the door, and we had cute glitter eggs lining the sidewalk...
Damon and Chad looked a little like Easter eggs themselves...
When the last guest was gone Stella collapsed in the playroom...
But I was still capturing memories!  Check out these precious and tasty cookies that Ms. Anna made for Stella...
And this fancy Easter themed banner that Ms. Missy made...
Thanks to all of our friends and family members who made Stella's party so special!  We are so blessed to have such wonderful people to love her and guide her in this journey of life!
