Whichever Way the Wind Blows

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we had no idea a hurricane was heading straight at us until Sunday afternoon, when Damon's family visited and put us on notice.  From there we started formulating an evacuation plan.  Since Watts is still not old enough to be immunized, we decided that a long trip was out and prepared to hunker down at Pawpaw and Mawmaw's house with their swanky generator.  If our lives were a fable, Damon would be the grasshopper to Pawpaw's ant, but I digress.  We loaded up the kids and most of our frozen food and set out for the country.  Since the storm turned out to be a little more slow moving than any of us anticipated, the girls got to enjoy some breezy exercise before Isaac joined us...

I don't know what it is about high wind that seems so fun, but kids of all ages enjoy it...

Poor little Cille is so small that the wind actually knocked her over a few times...

If you think we're crazy for letting our kids run around in tropical storm force winds, imagine, if you will, what it was going to be like to be trapped in a house with a four year old, a two year old, and a newborn for the next 3 days and then question our sanity...
Once the storm arrived we had to entertain ourselves indoors, so the girls helped Mawmaw put together a photo album.  I use the term "helped" rather loosely...

More on the hurricane in our next post!  Unfortunately, it wasn't all fun and games for everyone this time...
