Pumpkin Carving

Sunday afternoon the Guillory girls and the Pourciau girls did a little pumpkin carving while Daddy and Mr. John watched the Saints game. Before we started carving, we read The Pumpkin Patch Parable by Liz Curtis Higgs. It's a really neat children's book that uses a farmer carving a jack-o-lantern to illustrate how Jesus cleanses our hearts from sin. If it's not part of your library, you should definitely find a copy before next Halloween!
At first, Stella couldn't wait for her turn to clean out the yucky stuff inside the pumpkin...
But after she stuck her hand in there she thought it was too gross and let the bigger girls take over...

We had grandiose plans to carve a Rapunzel pumpkin with a template we printed from the internet, but ended up settling for a copycat of the jack-o-lantern from the book we read...
After Stella lost interest, Mr. John entertained her, Cille, and Talia on the swing...
She came back eventually...

Cille had to come investigate what was going on...
I forgot to take pictures of the finished product until a few days after Halloween, so our pumpkin was a little dried out by then...
"God once said, 'Let the light shine out of the darkness!' And this is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts." -2 Corinthians 4:6
