Papillion

To kick off the summer reading program this past Tuesday, our local library featured Papillion, a Cajun-French singer and storyteller.  I try to help Stella and Cille get in touch with their roots when I can, so we loaded up with a few friends and headed to the library to parle some Francais.  In keeping with our theme of three year old independence, Stella and I styled her hair as a joint effort that morning.  I fixed the hair and then we both chose an accessory.  I will let you decide which accessory she chose...
Papillion means "butterfly" in French, and in this picture the girls are making butterflies with their hands...
Every once in a while I have a lucky snap and capture a picture that I just love.  I feel that way about this one of my sweet Sadie...
Stella and Molly thought Papillion was hilarious....
Cille did not have time for pictures.  She had places to go and people to see...
They were singing a song about a cocodrie...

He actually is a pretty funny guy...
Stella had a few hair issues while we were there.  Luckily, her personal fashion consultant Molly Jane was on hand to help her out...
Emma got chosen to play the washboard!  She was actually not feeling well and didn't get much more excited about it than she looks in this picture...
Cille loved the music.  Stella wasn't a real big fan...
Papillion ended the performance with a huge line dance about shaking your crawfish tail.  If prizes had been given, I think Molly would have taken home honors for the shakiest tail...
If you have a chance to take your child to see Papillion, jump on it! He is fun and educational, not just for the kids, but for the adults, too. I'm so glad he was able to expose our local children to an authentic taste of their Cajun culture.
