Stella, Spencer, and Scarlett Fun Day, Part 1

It was recently brought to my attention by my favorite 6-year-old that in comparison to his older siblings, he has received a sorely insufficient amount of one-on-one time with me. I was understandably eager to remedy the disturbing situation. Since I am now the new and improved "mom" version of myself, Spencer was in for a real treat. See, when I decided that it was indeed time for some togetherness and excitement, the Pourciau family was running a two-for-the-price-of-one special on fun. That's right, lucky Spencer got to spend his day of fun with not only me, but Stella also. We dubbed Tuesday, July 7, "Stella/Spencer/Scarlett Fun Day," and we headed for Shreveport early in the morning, eager to squeeze every last ounce of family-friendly pleasure from that one-horse town. Our first stop was Sci-Port, where the two cutest paleontologists EVER went on their first dig together... Spencer rock and rolled...maybe I should send him a drum set for Christmas...that would be much less annoying than Hulk Hands, right, Tab? One highlight of the day was when Spencer programmed his own robot...it was way cool! Also way cool: wrestling Stella for 30 minutes while trying to keep her from re-programming every robot in the joint in her own special way.
While Spencer was busy making edible blood, Stella explored the human body...
And practiced for her future career by checking out a few x-rays....(I knew I should have brought the flashcards!)
While eager to make the edible blood, Spencer deemed it too nasty to actually eat.
In Spencer's defense, his fastest pitch was actually 30 mph, but this was the only picture in which you could see all of Spencer and the ball simultaneously.
Fun with pulleys...
In spite of the enthusiastic look on Spencer's face, he really enjoyed this exhibit and later said it was one of his favorites.
From digging for dinosaur bones to fixing toilets, these two do it all...
Piloting the Red in her own little tugboat...
While it looks like this exhibit would be lots of fun, it was actually just lots of stress for mom, as she tried to keep Stella from crawling into the pool with the ducks and soaking her clothes...
Stella's love of ducks inspired her face-painting choice. Since she wiggles a lot, we opted for a hand-painting.
Spencer was old enough to sit still and chose this nice green snake...apparently we need to cover those first few chapters of Genesis with Spence again...
Spencer's head on a platter...
Okay, since this is a science museum I was totally out of my element and confused all day. I think this air-tube was supposed to illustrate Bernoulli's Principle, but we decided that it was way more fun to just shoot it at Spencer's face and take funny pictures.
Look, Mom! Maybe Spencer will grow up to be an astronaut. I'll let him know to steer clear of you, so you won't crush his dream, too.
How many miles is it from Stella's house to Pop and Nana's? Too many! Stella is so smart. She was already figuring out the volume of these geometric shapes. She gets it from her Aunt Randie. The Red River exhibit was Stella's favorite. She caused quite a scene when we had to move on, and got so worked up that she stuck her sand-covered finger in her mouth for comfort. Yuck!
Inside one of the shows, Stella really wanted to sit on "Pencer's" lap...
I am ashamed to say that I neglected to read the "Please remove your shoes before playing on the piano" sign. Sorry, Sci-Port.
If you think Sci-Port was too much fun, you ain't seen nothin' yet! Stella, Spencer, and Scarlett Fun Day Part 2 is coming soon!
